Briston is a large village in a wonderful position in North Norfolk.
It really is central to so much in the area.
The village has an excellent village store, post office, proper bakery and
superb butchers. All are in walking distance of The Firs. There are also
two pubs, a sports playing field and village green. There are bus links
to most of the important places locally and beyond. You will find a bus
timetable in our information folder. We have found the villagers to be very
friendly and helpful.
Briston is a five minute drive from the historic Georgian market town of
Holt, which has really interesting shops to browse around. There is even
a traditional department store, plenty of tempting tearooms and a good sized
Budgens. There is an excellent fish and chip shop a few minutes drive away
in Melton Constable.
North Norfolk’s
famous coastline is within easy reach, being 15 minutes from Blakeney and Cley which are
popular for their walks, pubs and restaurants. For those wanting the
beach, a trip to the beach at Wells next the sea (20 mins.) provides an
excellent day out as well as a nice place to stroll in the evening as
does the nearby beach at Holkham. The larger traditional
seaside resorts of Sheringham, Cromer and Hunstanton are close by too. For shopping, Norwich is close
by (25 mins.) and offers an excellent mix of major department stores and
small boutique shops as well as being of historical note. If you still
want more, Wroxham (often called the capital of the Norfolk Broads) is
an easy drive (25 mins.).
Briston is in the centre of picturesque countryside and a short drive will
take you to some fantastic scenery and villages such as Thornage, Burnham
Market, Stiffkey and Cley-next-the-sea.
